Martha Ruth Wilson, 84, of Cleveland, TN entered into her forever home late afternoon, March 21, 2024, surrounded by her family after a long battle with breast cancer and dementia she endured gracefully. Although she was a resident of Cleveland, she loved her many years of living in Birchwood. She was born March 16, 1940 to the late Leonard and Alice Childs. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, sisters Edith Scroggins (Roy), Anna Belle Baker (Roy) and Edna Childs, and her loving husband of 48 years, Ray Wilson. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, whose love knew no bounds. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Rose Stanbery (Cecil), Katherine Moynihan (Stewart), Sylvia Beam (Chris), and Eunice Wilson; Grandchildren: Matt Slifko (Macy), Tabitha Payne (Nick), Justin Ferry (Samantha), Chad Slifko (Shianne), Dusty Ferry (Billee Jo), Brandon Horton (Jessica), Cecily Stanbery-Slifko (Johnathon), Kristen Malone (Melody), Conner and Jaden Beam; Great-Grandchildren: Saylor, Lincoln, Logan, Rayley, Paisley, Addison, Issac, Heath, Zepplin, Brayden, Sawyer, Emma, Brody, Troy, Victoria, Carson, Andrew, Hudson, Beau, Rhett, many special nieces and nephews along with two bonus nieces Jennifer Bowman and Tina Farner; Siblings: Loyd Childs (Jo) of Birchwood, Stella Herron (Burl) of Birchwood, and Ethel Hemness (Arnold) of Decatur. Ruth loved Jesus with all her heart. She was of the Church of God faith and attended wherever she felt led. She was an avid Atlanta Braves, Hee Haw, and Wheel of Fortune fan. She loved the Grand Ole Opry, Dollywood, family reunions, Dr. Pepper, Reese’s cups, and flowers. Ruth retired from years as a seamstress and pursued her passion in gardening flowers and quilting. She lived a life defined by her unwavering devotion to God and her family. Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where every visit was filled with warmth, hospitality, and a game of Trouble. Ruth leaves behind a family who adored her beyond measure. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love was unmeasurable, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we all mourn the loss of our beloved Ruth (Mammaw), let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared so freely. The family would like to express how grateful they are for the Hearth Hospice team (Heather, Tracey, and Courtney), All Ways Caring team (a special aid Jessica Bennett), special standby aids Sherry Payne and Marlena Poke who helped make Ruth’s time at home a peaceful experience. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Friday March 29, 2024 at 2pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel with Pastor David Evans officiating. The interment will follow at McInturf Cemetery in Meigs County with Matt Slifko, Chad Slifko, Justin Ferry, Dusty Ferry, Brandon Horton, Brody Horton and Nick Payne serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Friday from 11am until 2pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the MaryEllen Locher Foundation: P.O.
