On February 15, 2024, Marvin Harrison Boles, Sr., passed away at the age of 86 surrounded by his beloved family.Marvin was born on July 11, 1937, in Cleveland, TN. He was the oldest son of the late Eugene and Bonnie Boles, the brother of Ernest Boles, the late Louise Boles Masingale, and the late Eloise Boles McCracken. He was a devoted husband to Mary Boles for 43 years, and a loving father to Tim Boles (Shannon), Marvin Boles Jr., Mark Duncan (Mindy), and Dawna Aragon. They were blessed with four grandchildren Gage and Sidney Duncan and Shaw and Jackson. He was a graduate of Bradley High School Class of 1957, and worked for DuPlan, GPR, and played in several bands including: The Saints Class of 1957, Sugar Bear, and Natural High. Marvin was best known for his many talents. He was a musician, athlete, gardener, and craftsman. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do. His voice would bring tears to your eyes. He could play any instrument but mostly played the drums and sang. His love for music was contagious, inspiring his children to explore their own artistic talents and fostering a deep appreciation for creativity within his family. Marvin’s home was more than a physical space; it was a haven filled with cherished memories. His home had been occupied by his family for multiple generations. Marvin was sentimental and to him this land united the generations of the past to the present. He approached life with a meticulous attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to health and wellness. His motto was, “I don’t live to eat, I eat to live.” He was good at any sport he tried and was captain of his high school basketball team. He displayed confidence, commitment, independence, and responsibility to his children, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was someone they looked up to and saw as a hero in their lives. The memories of fishing, singing, playing games, sowing gardens, and eating hot peppers will never be forgotten. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good… Luke 6:45. Marvin’s heart was truly a treasure to all who knew him and the memory of him will carry on in their hearts forever.
