Jay was the son of the late Josephine Russ Cain and Bedford Dudley Cain Sr. His sisters, Mae Ophelia Tanner, Essie Margaret Cain and his brothers, James Cain and Eual Ervin Cain also preceded him in death. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran and he was retired from the Church of God Publishing House as a printer with over 34 years of service. After his retirement he worked for Schering Plough for a few years. Jay loved to sing and he was considered a great tenor! He sang in several gospel groups over the years. He also loved Antiques. Jay was known for his wonderful sense of humor and he loved to make people laugh! He was a member of the Westmore Church of God where he sang in the Choir.Survivors include his wife, Betty Ward Cain of Cleveland, his son, Jeremy Ward Cain of Acworth, Georgia, his grandchildren, Madelin, Sophie and Samuel Cain all of Cartersville, Geogia, his sisters, Josephine Virginia Cain, Thelma Juanita Walker both of Calhoun, Georgia, Faye Southall and her husband Jerry of Montgomery, Alabama, his brother, Judson McDuffy Cain and his wife Ruth of Albany, Georgia, his sister in law, Ruby Outlaw Cain of Leesburg, Georgia and several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1:00 from the Westmore Church of God with Pastor Kelvin Page and Pastor Wendell Smith officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 A. M. from the U. S. National Cemetery in Chattanooga with family and friends serving as casket bearers. Military honors will be given. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 Thursday at the Westmore Church of God. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the Horace S. Ward Jr. Scholarship Fund, C/O Joy Ward Terpstra, Pentecostal Theological Seminary, 900 Walker St. N. E.
