Charles Franklin “Cob” Johnson age 64 a resident of Athens passed away Saturday August 13, 2016. He was the son of the late James William ‘Bill’ & Elizabeth Miller Johnson and was also preceded in death by his Brothers James William ‘Jay’ Johnson, Jr., and Howard McKinley Johnson, his Mother-in-law Georgie Duncan, and brother and sister in law Ralph and Levenia Duncan.“My dad was a good guy. He enjoyed dune buggy riding and fixing up old Volkswagens with his friends. He loved cars in general, and working on them. Going to car shows and races. Some fond memories of him were of going to demolition derbies at Cleveland Speedway and getting hot slaw burgers at Dari Kreme as a kid, and riding rail buggies in the Mountains. My dad loved the outdoors tossing horseshoes, etc. He loved to gossip and joke around with everyone. He was spirited and enjoyed getting his own way.”Surviving family members include his Wife of 22 years Ida Johnson, his stepson Josh Barnett, his daughter Lisa Michelle Johnson Woody and her Husband David Edward Woody, his grandsons Erik Ryan Woody and his wife Brandi Horton Woody, and David ‘Blayne’ Woody and his wife Jessica Brooks Woody; his great granddaughter, Cerridwen Artemis Woody, his siblings Clyde Victor ‘Dudley’ Johnson and wife Tonya Reagan Johnson, and Wanda Burns and her husband Joe Burns, and Siblings-n-law Bill and his wife Sue Duncan, Floyd and wife Brenda Duncan, Mary and husband Marvin Boles, Elsie and husband Scott Laperle, George and wife Penny Duncan, many nieces and nephews.A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Avenue Chapel with Pastor Chad Denton and Bill Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home.
