Charles Sanger age 83 a resident of Cleveland Tennessee passed away Thursday April 3, 2014 in a local hospital. He was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God in Cleveland TN., and a minister with the Church of God for over 50 years before his retirement.He was the son of the late James Martin Sanger and Anna Mae Stewart Sanger. He was married to Alice Ann Sanger for over 50 years before her death in 2003.Rev. Sanger began his ministry in West Virginia as an Evangelist and quickly settled in as a successful pastor. He pastored churches in Weirton, Kellysville, Petersburg, Clarksburg and Logan all in West Virginia. From there he moved to Orlando Florida and became Pastor of Grace Street Church of God in Apopka FL., where he pastored for over 25 years before his retirement. He moved to Cleveland TN., in the early 2000’s to be near family.He loved the Church of God and enjoyed his time as a greeter at North Cleveland Church until his health forced his final retirement. He also enjoyed the Wednesday morning prayer group at the Church of God Headquarters in Cleveland. He was blessed to know Linda Tatum’s family Ed and Teresa Brown and Danita Rumler with whom he shared many holidays and delicious meals.Survivors include his sons David Sanger and Paul Sanger both of Cleveland, his grandson Joseph Sanger and daughter in law Kris Sanger, his close companion Linda Tatum and her family. Also surviving are his brothers Bob Sanger and James Sanger of Beckley WVA., sisters Gloria Hale of Cleveland, Anna Lee Mann of Atlanta GA., and Brenda Casson of Rock Hill SC., several nieces and nephews.A Remembrance of Life service will be held 3pm Sunday at the North Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Mitch Maloney, Pastor Travis Porter and Pastor Larry Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Hugh Hale, Bobby Sanger, Joseph Sanger, Don Warrington, Roland Sharp and Ed Brown serving as casket bearers.The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until service time at 3pm at the church.Read Obituary

David and Paul, I am sorry for your loss but it is definitely Heaven's gain. Bro and Sis Sanger were like parents to me. They helped me through some dark times in my childhood even into my teenage years. I love them dearly but they are together again rejoicing in Heaven. And no one could ever know the impact they had on my life. I am where i am today in God because of them. I owe my walk with God to God but i attribute my faith in god to your parents who guided me through the storms of my life. He taught me you can get out of bondage but you also have to get the bondage out of you. Hard lessons i had to learn, but they helped me spiritually through it all. I went to Grace Street Chuch of God from the age of 5, got saved @ 8 and filled with the Holy Ghost @ 16. I left Orlando when i was 20 and moved to Plant City and started traveling full time with a Southern Gospel group for the next 7 1/2 years. I owe it all to Bro and Sis Sanger for nurturing me through some dark hours to make me the strong woman of God I am today. I can't wait to get to Heaven and see them again.

Dwaine and I were in the music ministry with Pastor Sanger and his wonderful wife just before the addition to the church had been built at Grace Street Church of God.
We shared many wonderful outpouring of the Holy Spirit in music and The Word.
It was there God blessed us with our beautiful daughter, Ashley and Pastor Sanger dedicate her to The Lord.
We have many fond memories and friends we found at Grace Street Church of God.
We feel very blessed to work with him and his wife.
Heaven is celebrating his homecoming today.
