MR. GARY LAMAR REECE, age 67, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly July 11, 2015 in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was born on September 11, 1947 in Valley Head, Alabama, a son of the late G. C. Reece and Ruth Selvey Reece. Mr. Reece served in the U. S. Army Company A, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry “Tomahawks”, 25th Division. He was stationed in Alaska, Hawaii, with majority in combat in Vietnam. During service in Vietnam He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Bernie Reece and sister, Rise Rebecca Reece.Surviving are children, Kelly Reece (Jeff) Floyd of Menlo, GA., Wesley Reece of Chattanooga, TN., Zachary Reece of Ringgold, GA., and Aleah Reece of Summerville, GA.; special cousin, Ms. P. J. Campbell of Mississippi; special niece, Misty McDaniel of LaFayette, GA.; 8 Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews; special friends, Marvin Garth and Carl & Monica Davis.A Remembrance of Life Graveside service will be held August 3rd, 2015 @ 2:00 P.M. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev, Charles Bishop, pastor of Subligna Baptist Church, Summerville GA. and Chaplain Dale Harmeson, International Community Service Chaplain with the Church of God, officiating. Military Honors presented by Mrs. Odell Anderson, Veterans Liaison with Senator Johnny Isakson office. Military rites by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of Rome, Georgia. The North Ocoee St. Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes in Cleveland Tennessee has charge of the arrangements.
