Haymond Edwin “Ed” Cross Sr., 83, of Cleveland passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20th, 2018. He was born on July 12th, 1934, to the late Haymond A. and Marilou Dyer Cross. He was of the Methodist faith. He graduated Chattanooga High School and went on to study engineering at Chattanooga State and packaging design at Michigan State. In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his brother Carl Cross and sister June Payne. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Flowers Cross; sons: Ed Cross Jr., Jim and his wife Karin Cross; step-son: Richmond and his wife Missy Flowers; daughter: Sandy Vallejo; grandchildren: Tiffany and husband Jeff Renfro, Natalie and husband Jimmy Treadway, Emily Cross, Shellie Vellejo, Ja and wife Lindsey Vallejo, Maren Cross, Sandra Cross, Chandler and husband Blake Goodner, Mackenzie Flowers, and Gabriel Flowers; great grandchildren: Harper, Evans, and Grant Treadway, Marley Flowers, Colt, Wesley, and Elliot Murphy; the mother of his Ed’s children, Wanda Cross of Daphne, Alabama and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was a lifetime NRA member. He loved golf and served on the board of directors of the Cleveland Golf & Country Club. He was a member of Post 81 American Legion as well as the Elks Lodge. He retired in 2000 from Willamette Corrugated Industries as a container salesman. In his position he designed several of the corrugated packaging products. He had previous employment with Magic Chef in design engineering and was also employed with Combustion Engineering in the nuclear division. He excelled as an entrepreneur creating many valuable products for local industry. Prior to these positions he served in the Air Force, Air National Guard Reserves from 1952-1966, where he trained in advanced ground radio. Serving as casket bearers; Ja Vallejo, Gabe Flowers, Brett Dunn, Rocky Casteel, Blake Casteel, and Blake Goodner. Serving as honorary casket bearer, Rodney Urban. Family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday February 23rd at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel. Graveside military service will follow for family and close friends at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Brian Mowery officiating.
