Reverend Huel Hooker, 81, of Cleveland went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015, with his loving wife by his side. He was a Baptist minister for 57 years and a full time pastor for 37 years. He pastored churches in Bradley, Polk, McMinn, Rhea, Roane and Morgan counties. He retired from Cloverleaf Baptist Church in 2011 where he was still a member. He was truly a man of God, a man who dearly loved his family and had a very special love for all people.He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Pam Helton; parents, Dude and Edna Hooker; brothers, Cecil, Jess and Vance Hooker and a sister, Lucretia Gates.Brother Hooker is survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Faye Clayton Hooker: son: Mike Hooker and his wife Gina; daughter: Tish Waldo and her husband Donnie; son in law: Phil Helton; brother:the Reverend Eddie Hooker and his wife Polly; sister in law: Margie Hooker; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; all of which make up his family who he devoted his whole life to.A Remembrance of Life Service in honor of The Reverend Hooker will be held Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 3:00pm from the Cloverleaf Baptist Church, in Cleveland, with the Reverend Anthony Howard and Pastor Michael Coleman officiating. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00pm Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the church. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church cemetery, in Polk County.
