Howard Nathaniel Lumley Jr., age 93, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday in a Chattanooga hospital. Mr. Lumley was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and he was the son of the late Nezzie Jones Lumley and H. N. Lumley. His first wife, Hunter Lou Lumley, his sister, Helen Ann Wade, his nephew, Jack Wade Jr. and his brother in law, Bill Ferris also preceded him in death. Mr. Lumley was a World War II Army Veteran. He served in Germany and he received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He received his Bachelors degree in Agriculture and Engineering Textiles from North Carolina State University. He retired from Burlington Industries as a Supervisor with over 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Rolling Hills Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and scored a Hole in One! In his younger days, he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. Mr. Lumley was a Presbyterian.Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Rosetta Marie Lumley of Cleveland, his sisters in law, Mary Ferris of Florida, Shirley Crumley and her husband Tony of Cleveland, his brothers in law, Jack Wade Sr. of North Carolina, Ron Green of Cleveland and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 1:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Larry Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers. Military Honors will be given. A Dove release will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
