Jack Austin Bennett age 90 a resident of Cleveland TN., passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in a local healthcare facility. Jack was the son of the late Mary Bailey Bennett and Roy. E. Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Martha Dean Trotter Bennett, his son Marc Bennett and his brothers William Bennett, Ray Bennett, Roy Bennett Jr. and James Bennett. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was attached to the Pacific Fleet in Okinawa. He later worked for Sinclair Oil Company in Memphis TN., and Kayo Oil Company in Chattanooga. He retired from Peyton’s Southeastern in Cleveland where he was a supervisor. Jack was a lifetime member of the local Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church for more than 50 years where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Waterville Golf Course. One of his favorite accomplishments was his verified 12 holes in one. His greatest accomplishment was accepting the Lord as his Savior and living out his faith until the time of his death. Survivors include one sister Barbara Isaacson, one son Steven M. Bennett (Leslie), one daughter Beth Maxwell (Kevin), grandchildren Jason Bennett (Jami), Amanda Brakebill (Nick), Jeremy Maxwell, Kurt Maxwell, Alex Maxwell (Katie) and Maria Maxwell, great grandchildren Lauren Gamble, Scotty Barrera, Nolen Bennett, and Gage Brakebill, several nieces and nephews and a very special caregiver Lisa Hamby. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 7o’clock Wednesday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Pastor Joe Brooks and Pastor Daniel Malone officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 7pm at the funeral home. A graveside service and interment, with military honors, will be held at 12:30 Thursday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Jeremy Maxwell, Kurt Maxwell, Alex Maxwell, Jason Bennett, Nick Brakebill and Johnny Hughes serving as casket bearers.
