John Henry Patrick, 92, long time resident of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. John moved there in 2017 to be near his son Richard and his family.During his many years in Cleveland, John enjoyed attending Washington Ave. Baptist Church, working on his farm and sharing the harvest with friends as well as selling his produce at local farmer's markets. He was generous with family and friends. John had a soft spot for animals and took in many stray cats and a few dogs over the years. He enjoyed getting out in nature and was especially fond of the Jack River area. He was a loving son, father, father-in-law grandfather, and great-grand father, and friend.John was born in Athens, Tenn. on Dec. 4th, 1925 to Major Henry and Amanda Nunley Patrick. John was the 5th surviving child and their next to youngest. John enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. John is survived by and fondly remembered by his sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Ruth Patrick, and James "Doug" and Leslie S. Patrick of Palmer Ak; his grandchildren: Melissa, Brian and wife Beth, Stephen and wife Lindsay; his nieces, nephews, and extended family. Great grandchildren include: Luke, Olivia, and Bradley.A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 11o’clock Friday July 20, 2018 at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave Chapel with Rev. Daniel White officiating. The committal service will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens where he will be buried near his family. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7pm at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that you would consider making a donation in the memory of Mr. Patrick to the Dixie Day Spay Clinic or to a charity of your choice.
