Duke was the son of the late Dorothy Sanford Humphrey and Garland Humphrey. His sister, Sherry Humphrey Swargart and his brother, Jay Humphrey also preceded him in death. Duke enjoyed playing all sports and he was considered one of the best athletes to ever come out of Noblesville, Indiana, his home town. He could have gone pro in basketball or baseball but was drafted for the Vietnam War. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam where he received 3 purple hearts. He owned and operated Duke’s plumbing for many years in Indiana. He also carried an Electrician Certification. Duke was of the Christian faith.Survivors include his son, Travis Humphrey and his wife April of Cleveland, his granddaughter, Keira Humphrey also of Cleveland, his sisters, Gena Wade of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dottie Frost of Noblesville, Indiana, Vickie Spannon of Anderson, Indiana, his brothers, Bill Humphrey and his wife Cynthia of Tampa, Florida, Dr. Lee Humphrey of Oletha, Kansas, Gary Humphrey and his wife Karen of Fishers, Indiana, Terry Humphrey and his wife Ann of Noblesville, Indiana and several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Sunday morning at 11:00 from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Frank Nolen officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Veteran Section with family serving as pallbearers. Military Honors will be given. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P. M.
