Rev. Leonard Taylor Strickland of Winder GA., was born May 1, 1940 to the late Jim and Roxie Strickland in Lamontville Tennessee. Rev. Strickland entered his eternal home of rest on September 9, 2017 after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Ethel Strickland Michaels, Beatrice Strickland Green, Charleen Strickland Richardson, Alma Sue Strickland Rowe, Jnettie Strickland Davis, Opal Strickland Casteel, his brother J. R. Strickland. He retired from Ford Motor Company, and was an ordained minister who preached the Gospel throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Pamela Strickland, his daughters Angela Strickland Golden, Kelly Strickland Spinks, Charman Strickland, Dr. Jessica D. Richardson and his adopted daughter Schawna Rainwater Collier, his sons Jonathan and Samantha Strickland, Tony Strickland, Josh Ferm and Greg Ferm, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, his sisters Nina Strickland Cartwright, Frances Strickland White and Annie Strickland Stanton and her husband Danny, his brother in law Don Casteel husband of Opal Strickland Casteel, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Rev. Strickland will be held in Winder GA., at 6pm Saturday September 16, 2017 at Smith Memory Chapel. A Remembrance of life service will be held at 6pm Sunday September 17, 2017 at Samples Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Cameron, Pastor Daniel White and Rev. Will Griffith officiating. The interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6pm at Smith Memory Chapel in Winder GA., and Sunday from 3 until 6pm at Samples Memorial Baptist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made for his transportation and funeral expenses. Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
