Mrs. Verner was the daughter of the late Alma Mae Dempsey Brown and Earl Brown. Her husbands, Ralph Slack and Sherman Verner, her daughter, Judy Leamon, her granddaughter, Crystal McGaha, her sister, Katherine Powers and her brothers, Earl Brown and James Brown also preceded her in death. Mrs. Verner attended the Baptist Church.Survivors include her daughter, Tammy McGaha and her husband Jimmy, her son, John Slack all of Cleveland, her grandchildren, Lasha McGaha, Gary Ballew and Michael Leamon, her 4 great grandchildren, her sisters, Stella Pike of Cleveland, Barbara Russell of Jacksonville, Florida and Rosie West of Daytona, Florida, her brother, Charlie Brown of Varnell, Georgia and several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Friday, January, 23, 2015 at 2:00 from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend Isaac Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with family serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 Friday just before the service at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
