Martha D. Trotter Bennett, age 86, a resident of Cleveland passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 in a local health care facility. Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of the late Lennie Davis Trotter and Arthur M. Trotter. Her son, Marc Bennett, her sister, Lillian Kerr and her brother, Jack Trotter also preceded her in death. Mrs. Bennett worked for Cooper Bookstore downtown for several years. She also worked for Bellsouth Telephone as an Operator for several years. She retired from the Bradley County School System as a Substitute Teacher with over 10 years of service. She was an avid reader! Mrs. Bennett was a 52 year member of the Big Spring Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and she served as Director of Vacation Bible School for a number of years. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Jack Bennett of Cleveland, her daughter, Beth Maxwell and her husband Kevin also of Cleveland, her son, Steve M. Bennett and his wife Leslie of Charleston, her grandchildren, Jason Bennett and his wife Jami, Amanda Brakebill and her husband Nick, Jeremy Maxwell and his wife Amanda, Kurt Maxwell, Alex Maxwell and his wife Katie and Maria Maxwell, her great grandchildren, Lauren Gamble, Scotty Barrera, Nolen Bennett, Gage Brakebill and Skyler Mahoney and several nieces and nephews also survive. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 7:00 P. M. from the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Reverend Joe Brooks and Reverend Daniel Malone officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:00 from the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Jeremy, Kurt and Alex Maxwell, Jason Bennett, Nick Brakebill and Rick Smith serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 on Thursday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
