Mr. Griffey was the son of the late Frona Estep Griffey and John Elmer Griffey. His granddaughter, Amy L. Pigg, his sisters, Maggie Dotson, Sarah Stiltner, Harriett Mounts and Iva Collins and his brother, David Clay Griffey also preceded him in death. Mr. Griffey was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in W. W. II. He was retired owner and operator of Industrial Repair and Fabrication Company with 14 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed his work with Life Care Health Care facility. He was an avid fisherman and he loved woodworking. He also enjoyed photography and he was an accomplished oil painting artist. He enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens, but most of all he loved being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren! Mr. Griffey was a faithful member of the North Cleveland Church of God.Survivors include his wife, Arvene M. Griffey of Cleveland, his daughter, Lorie J. Gassel and her husband Brian Gassel of Atlanta, Georgia, his sons, James E. Griffey and his wife S. Dianne Griffey, Terry S. Griffey and his wife Sonia M. Griffey all of Cleveland, his grandchildren, Andrea Shope and her husband Jamie, Sarah Medlin and her husband Clark, Debra Moore and her husband Josh, Brent Griffey and his wife Andra, Melissa Rickmeyer and her husband Major Paul Rickmeyer, Amanda Griffey, Christopher Griffey and his wife April, Lauren Gassel, Morgan Gassel, his 23 great grandchildren, his 1 great great grandchild, his grandson in law, Mike Pigg and several nieces and nephew also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00 A. M. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Pastor Cy Harris officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tucker Shope, Chris Griffey, Jonathon Pigg, Matthew Pigg, Brent Griffey and Clark Medlin serving as casket bearers. Military honors will be given. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. Monday at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
