Newell James Ledford

Newell James Ledford age 75 a resident of Old Fort passed away Friday January 15, 2016 in a local health care facility. He was the son of the late Robert and Thelma Rosa Fletcher Ledford and was also preceded in death by his brothers Verlin and Roy Ledford and his sister Betty Wilson and a son in law George “Chuck” Ellenwood.Mr. Ledford was retired from Shaw Industries as a mechanic with over 23 years of service. He attended Ladd Springs Church of God and was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family his work and cooking out.Newell is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Glenda Mullinax Ledford, his sons Newell James Ledford and his wife Debbie of Benton, Robert Ledford and his wife Belinda of Cleveland, Jewell Ledford and his wife Tammy of Old Fort, Tommy Ledford and his wife LeAnn of Maryville, his daughter Sherry Ellenwood of Old Fort, grandchildren Delena Pope, Christy Green and her husband Daniel, Josh Ledford and his wife Kalisha, Brandon Ledford, Taylor Ledford, Tommy Ledford, Jonathan Ellenwood and Carissa Allen and her husband Jared, great grandchildren J.J. Ledford, Abigail Green, Haven Ledford, Carter Ellenwood and Addyson Grace Allen, his brothers Jewell Ledford and his wife Bonnie of Cleveland, Kenneth Ledford and his wife Barbara of Dalton, Sonny Ledford and his wife Lou of Cleveland and Leonard Ledford of Old Fort, his sister JoAnn Sanders of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews.A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 2 o’clock Monday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Pastor Joe Taylor, Rev. Jimmy Porter and Rev. Sonny Ledford officiating. The interment will follow in the Ball Play Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home.Read Obituary
