Rodney Scott Baierl, 54, ended his earthly suffering and went to be with his Lord on December 15, 2017. Rodney was born April 23, 1963, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a resident of Chattanooga for over 30 years. Rodney received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Physics from Chattanooga State Technical Community College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a respected employee of Wilkins Research. Rodney was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he grew in His faith and trust in the One who carried him through each earthly struggle. At Covenant, Rodney was challenged in his spiritual walk and passionately spoke of the truths he learned with his family and friends. In 2011, Rodney was wonderfully blessed to receive a kidney and pancreas transplant after many years of battling diabetes. He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; his parents, Robert and Janet Baierl of Lexington, South Carolina; brother, Paul (Sherry) of Chattanooga; sister, Sharon (DuWayne) Riles; sister, Julie (Donald) Stanfield; brother, Alan (Jennifer) all of the Columbia, South Carolina area; mother-in-love, Eldora North, Tucson Arizona; sisters-in-love, Cara Leoni and Angela (Bill) Moore, also from Arizona; many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Dorothy Baierl, and Ralph and Flora George, and by father-in-love, Reed North. Rodney will be remembered for his kind and gentle soul, his intelligence, his quick wit, and his most chivalrous nature. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8451 East Brainerd Rd., Chattanooga TN., 37421, with Dr. Dan Steere officiating. The interment will follow at Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 146 Pine Hill Rd., McDonald TN., 37353. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11am until 2pm at the church.
