Thomas G. Seymour Jr., “Big TOM”, 69, born on August 23, 1945, in Sweetwater, TN., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2014. He was surrounded by his family at that time. Tom was a proud member of the Tennessee Highway Patrol retiring after 32 years of loyal service in 2005.Tom was the most loving, devoted husband, daddy, papaw, and friend anyone could have ever been blessed to have known and loved. He passed along his wisdom, knowledge, and many values to all he came in contact with. He touched the lives of everyone who met him and all that knew him. Tom loved fishing and cooking with his family and friends. He enjoyed mowing lawns, “tinkering”, and drinking a hot cup of coffee with the family dog “Jack”. But most of all, Tom’s true passion in life was being with his family. He was an amazing man, a “Man’s Man” and leaves behind an enormous legacy for his soul-mate, Bettye, his children, his grandchildren, his brothers in the THP, and all other friends who knew and loved him.Tom was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Carmen Hall and Thomas G. Seymour Sr. Also, preceding his death was his Aunt Lucy Patterson Matthews and Uncle Ben Seymour.Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years Bettye Cross Seymour; two daughters and sons-in law, Stephanie and Mitchell Parker of Cleveland, and Tamara and Thomas Clower of Cleveland; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas “Trey” and Jamie Ensminger Seymour of Cleveland ; three grandsons, Christian Parker, Cole Parker, and Thomas Seymour IV; two step grandchildren, Amber and Jonathan Clower; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Ronnie Mayo of Parma Heights, OH; Adopted sister, Jeannie Hefner; Aunt, Agnes Seymour Packett of Sweetwater and several nieces, nephews and many close friends.A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2pm Tuesday at the North Ocoee St. Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Tom Wickes officiating. The Tennessee Highway Patrol Honor Guard will stand guard and serve as casket bearers. The interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Cleveland Masonic #134 will have a masonic service at 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4 until 8pm and from 12 noon until the service time at the North Ocoee St. Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes.

I was saddened to read/hear about your loss this past week. My memory is always the one of your family sitting together in one of the pews at Ridgeview Baptist Church so many years ago( when the children were much younger)....The upcoming holiday season will be very hard for each of you & I just wanted to share the following scripture in hope that it will help you in the times to follow ahead, please read Psalm 91:4. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man. I'll never forget the very first time I met him years ago while being employeed at Cherokee a Pharmacy. Here walked in this big man with a State Trooper uniform on. I was obviously intimidated by his stature and attire. I asked if I could help him and then he smiled !!! Great man and will be missed.
