Brother and Sister Vaughn pastored our church, Church of God of Prophecy, in Durham. They worked hard for the church, and we loved them dearly. Lila and I visited him many summers after he left. I called him often. My heart is heavy, but I know where he is. You have our condolences.

In our older years Brother Vaughn and I got to share some very good times together. In our early years of service to God we were separated by distance it seems God arranged for us to have opportunity to share many hours of visitation over breakfast at Hardee's and other places. We shared prayers for many things among those things were times of prayer for friends and family. At 87 I realize that I am will soon be joining him in Heaven around the throne of our Great God. May God bless all of you,, the family and friends as also. May we all meet with A. J. in that time just ahead.. J Russell Sullivan

I have to say I was shocked to hear of AJ's passing! I just saw him not too long ago. I first got to know him when I moved back to Cleveland as one of my Daddy, Watson Horne's customers. I got closer to him after his sweet wife Rosetta passed. He and I would enjoy bantering back and forth while he was waiting his turn for his haircut. Our friendship grew when I inherited him when my Daddy had to retire and subsequently passed himself. He and I would talk about God and politics, my Daddy and food! We had planned to share a meal together at his favorite restaurant when normalcy returned. His last time in, he brought me a menu for The Cajun Lady. I will go have lunch there in his memory sometime very soon. I will miss him so very much!!

I have nothing but great memories of .A. J. and Rosetta Vaughn, they were members of our local congregation when my husband served as pastor of the Cleveland, Keith Street, Congregation.

They were faithful members, serving and being available wherever needed. He and his lovely companion invested their entire life in helping others.

God bless the remaining family, and you have great hope to seeing A.J. and Rosetta one day. What a testimony they both left.

Gerald Elliott. AJ was more than a friend he was like family. I was blessed to know AJ. He was my teacher at Michigan Avenue School the first year he was there. I grew to love him and he was an inspiration to me. I got to visit him a few weeks before his passing. We were able to sit and talked about the great times we had in school. I will miss him greatly but I know he’s praising in heaven with is lovely wife. I will see him again one day but here on earth is a big void. I want his family know he was loved by everyone and a inspiration.
