Amaryllis "Anne" Morefield Thomas

July 8, 1927 - March 13, 2022

Amaryllis Thomas (known as Anne by family and friends) went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 13, 2022. She was a loyal and active member of Westmore Church of God before becoming disabled. Her husband Josh, and her parents, Reverend and Mrs. W. T. Morefield preceded her in death. Her two children survive her: Billy of Cleveland, Tennessee and Joan of Sewanee, Tennessee . Also two grandchildren April Thomas, Durham, North Carolina, Josh Thomas (Jessica), two great grandchildren, Jordan and Jaxon Thomas all of Atlanta, Georgia. She loved her family very much and was always there for them when they needed her. She was a charter member of Westmore Church of God where she worked in the nursery department for many years. After retiring from the nursery, she and her husband organized the Westmore senior group which they named the Keenage Wonders. They sponsored this group for 21 years. Prior to the organization of the Westmore Church of God, she was an active member of the North Cleveland Church of God. She worked in the nursery there for several years. She and her husband sang duets for the North Cleveland church’s weekly radio program. She served one term as President of the Ellen Circle at North Cleveland and was active in the Enetha Circle when she transferred to Westmore. Anne worked for the Church of God for a total of 29 years serving in various offices at the International Offices as Executive Secretary before retiring in 1992. She was a very loyal and dependable person and received commendation from the Executive Committee of the International Church of God when she retired from her position there. She and her husband traveled across the United States several times, visiting 49 states. Their most memorable trip was when they drove from Cleveland to Alaska in their motor home, spending three weeks there. They were in Juneau for two weeks working with the Men and Women of Action building a new church. Upon leaving Juneau, they traveled by ferry to Ketchikan where they visited with friends for a few days. They also worked on new church buildings in South Dakota and New Hampshire with the Men and Women of Action. In addition to working with the Men and Women of Action, they enjoyed looking for antiques and collectibles as they traveled. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 4 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Pastor Wendell Smith and Dudley Pyeatt officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangement's.
