Annie Laura Breaux

Annie Laura Margaret Breaux, 86, formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee died on April 14, 2020, after an extended illness. She was born on January 16, 1934 in Bogalusa, Louisiana and was the daughter of Theresa and Alfred Hatteberg. Annie Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James A. Breaux, her young daughter Mignonne, her brother Alfred Hatteberg of New Orleans, LA, and her parents. She is survived by her four living children, sons Alfred (Judy) Breaux of Hurricane, WV; James (Patricia) Breaux of Rock Hill, SC; and Steven (Mary) Breaux of Decatur, GA. Her surviving daughter Michele Adams (Larry Newton) of Athens, GA was her mother’s constant companion as Annie Laura struggled with Alzheimer’s for the last 3 years. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Kevin (Mandy) Breaux, of Hingham, MA; Courtney (Matt) McGee of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Margaret Breaux of Atlanta, GA; Sarah Breaux of Santa Rosa, CA,: Emma Breaux of Charleston, SC; Brian (Madison) Adams of Memphis, TN; Jennifer Adams of Athens, GA; Kenneth Adams of Atlanta, GA; Emily Marie Breaux of Decatur, GA; Mignonne Breaux of Decatur, GA; and 3 great granddaughters: Maryn and Hadley McGee of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Amelia Breaux of Hingham, MA. Annie Laura is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Annie Laura was a graduate of Bogalusa High School in Bogalusa, LA and attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Training. She was a member of the Cleveland Garden Club (Cleveland, TN) and was very active in the Laureate Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, serving in various positions over the years. She and her husband became members of the United Way Pillars Club in 1989. She loved playing bridge in several groups and particularly enjoyed the Wednesday Ladies Bridge Group. The two great loves of Annie Laura’s life were her faith and her family. She and her late husband Jim attended St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Cleveland, TN for 47 years. An extremely dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, Annie Laura passionately loved her husband and her children with their families. Her children and grandchildren gave her the greatest joy. She cherished every minute of cooking for and entertaining all of them at her homes in Cleveland and Destin, FL. Annie Laura and her husband Jim had many friends they traveled with, golfed with, and entertained in their homes. She derived great pleasure in hosting her children, grandchildren and many friends in her homes filled with laughter, love, good food and interesting conversations. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Lacie, Ann, Janet, and the entire St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village staff for their loving and compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Saturday, June 26th at 3 P. M. with Father Mike Nolan officiating. Deacon Steve Ratterman will serve. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
