Billie Ruth Sherlin, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Mrs. Sherlin was born in Ooltewah, Tennessee and she was the daughter of the late Sarah Fairbanks Combs and Elisha Combs. Her husband, Herbert W. Sherlin, brothers, Leon Combs, Bobby Combs and Lewis Combs preceded her in death. Mrs. Sherlin was a homemaker and she worked with her husband at their grocery store, "Sherlin's Grocery" in McDonald. She loved her family and taught them about the Lord and lifted their spirits. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Mrs. Sherlin was a member of the Church of God where she taught youth and senior adults in Sunday School for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Tammie Mauldin (Dr. Walt Mauldin), sons, Wayne Sherlin (Donna), Nathan Sherlin (Denise) all of Cleveland, grandchildren, Eric Sherlin (Robin), Daniel Sherlin (Heather), Dustin Sherlin (Melissa), Teena Guffey (Mark), Kylee Clukey (Kyle), Andrew Sherlin (Kaytlin), Shanda Johnson (Paul), Joel Scoggins (Khristina), Jeremy Mauldin (Nikki), Ryan Mauldin (Rebekah), 26 great grandchildren, sister, Louise Johnson (Bob), McDonald, brother, Kenneth Combs, Ooltewah, also surviving is Joyce Mauldin Jones, a life long friend she attended school with at Bradley High and worked with her at F. W. Woolworth's. Several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service and Interment will be held Private for the family at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Walt Mauldin and Reverend Joel Scoggins officiating. Riley Harris, Will Plemons, Kyle Clukey, Andrew Sherlin, Joel Scoggins, Lane Harris, Eric Sherlin, Daniel Sherlin, Dustin Sherlin and Paul Johnson will serve as casket bearers. Due to COVID concerns, A Celebration Memorial Service will be conducted at a later time for family and friends. The family request in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the Smoky Mountain Children's Home by mailing a check to 449 McCarn Circle, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862 or by going to smch.org.
