Billy "Bill" Albert Hughes

Billy “Bill” Albert Hughes born September 6, 1939, passed away at his residence following a lengthy illness on May 25, 2017. Bill was an auto mechanic much of his life and was always ready to help people in need. In his early years he served as a pastor of the Laurel Mountain Church of God in Madisonville TN., and also at the Cottonport Road Church of God in Cottonport TN. Bill was a member of the 4th Ave. Church of God in Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rufus and Marandi Hughes, his parents John and Myrtle Hughes, his three brothers J.R. Hughes, Hoyt Hughes and Eugene “Shorty” Hughes, a sister Geneva Hughes. Survivors include his wife Betty Benfield Hughes, his daughters Susan Jeanette Kennedy and her husband Kendall, Jeanita Ann Rhoades and her husband Doug, Sherry Oneida Maddux and her husband Brandon, his step son Jason Benfield and his wife Heather, grandchildren Matthew Elston, Nickie Taj, Rusty Kennedy, Vanessa Perkins, Amber Pickle, P.J. Holmes, David Rhoades, Jessie Holmes, Daniel Rhoades, his step grandchildren Autumn, JJ and Summer Benfield, his sisters Faye Coffer and her husband Donald Lee, Kay Stokes and her husband Arlie, Barbara Hooker and her husband Lester, Ina Jean Stokes and her husband Earl, his brothers Rev. Sammy Hughes and his wife Daisy and Donnie Hughes and his wife Sherry. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Rev. Sammy Hughes officiating. The interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11am until 2pm at the funeral home.Read Obituary
