Billy Wilson, age 89, a resident of Old Fort, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in a local hospital. Mr. Wilson was born in Fairmont, Georgia and he was the son of the late Laura Dupree Wilson and John Wilson. His wife, Betty Ledford Wilson, his son, Weyman Wilson Sr., his sister, Geraldine Woody and his brothers, Thomas Wilson, James Charles "Dickie" Wilson and Pete Wilson also preceded him in death. Mr. Wilson worked over 10 years with Cherokee Samples. He loved music and could play any instrument. He taught countless people how to play. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Beech Springs Baptist Church in Polk County.Survivors include his sons, Dean Wilson and his wife Sheila of Big Canoe, Georgia, Doug Wilson and his wife Sherry of Old Fort, his grandchildren, Stacy Underdown and her husband Clay, Weyman Wilson Jr. Cassie Wilson and Matthew Wilson and his wife Riley, his great grandchildren, Kolbie Wilson, Christian Wilson, Cole Underdown and Jacob Wilson, his nephew and pickin partner, Reverend Clint Ledford and several other nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 4:00 P. M. at the Ball Play Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with Reverend Clint Ledford officiating. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. I will always remember the joy of being with family and listening to the banjo playing of Billy with his sons playing along either on a guitar or a banjo and their singing!! Oh Lord it was grand! Much Love to the family, I miss you all and send prayers to you all that you’ll find comfort and peace knowing his with loved ones and the Music will be Glorious for all to hear!
