Rev. Bobby Joe "BJ" Tipton

Reverend Bobby Joe “BJ” Tipton entered the gates of heaven on Saturday morning, September 5, 2020, at a local healthcare facility in Cleveland, TN. He was 78 years old. BJ was a counselor, music minister, and youth minister. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from East Tennessee State University, while he also received two Master’s Degrees. The first was in Religious Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and the second was in Counseling from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served in various churches throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee. He was also a published author and songwriter. He held numerous denominational offices. BJ is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Tipton; two children, Michael (Stacy) Tipton and Angela (Kirk) Campbell, both of whom are educators; four special grandchildren, Gracie Tipton, Addie Campbell, Gabe Campbell, and Summer DeVries. He is also survived by several cousins in the Tri-cities area. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 4:00 pm at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Rev. Gerald Atkins and Rev. Derek McCosh presiding. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in memory of BJ to the park fund at Remember Me Senior Care, Remember Me Senior Care, 114 Stuart Rd.
