Charles D. Shope

Charles D. Shope, 82, of Cleveland, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at a local health care facility. He was born March 26, 1936 to the late Drusie (Grandma) and Claude (Grandpa) Shope. His nephew, Ronnie Shope, also precedes him in death. "Uncle Charles" embodied the scripture in Luke 14:23. To be a true witness, ensuring everyone knew his Lord, was his heartbeat. Other passions included picking his guitar and singing in church at Sunrise Baptist, where he was a long time member. Survivors include his brothers: Benny Shope, Larry Shope and wife Lois; niece: Kim Rainwater and husband, Terry; nephews, James Eddie Shope and wife Pam, Danny Shope and wife Martha, David Shope and wife Cora, Tim Shope and wife Janet; with a host of great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Bradley Health Care, those in the “Sunshine Room” and Hospice of Chattanooga, for their love, care and support. A Remembrance of Life service will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3:00pm from the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Josh Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with David Shope, Tim Shope, Terry Rainwater, Roy Sandige, Micah Rainwater and Reed Sullivan as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 20, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, the service hour, at the funeral home.
