Ed Scoggins, age 60, a resident of Benton, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, at the family residence. Ed was the son of the late Etta Aline Havens Scoggins and Marvin Allen Scoggins. His sister, Janis Ruth Scoggins also preceded him in death. Ed was a graduate of Hunter- Huss High School on Gastonia, North Carolina. He was also a graduate the New Life Bible College. He also held Exhorters Certificate with the Church of God. He was a home builder for 40 years and he was a licensed contractor and electrician. He was a visionary and anytime he had a project on his mind, it was "get out of the way and its done" He owned and operated the Bear's Den BBQ in Ocoee for the past 10 years. He served as a missionary to Haiti, making 10 different trips. He financially supported the rebuilding of a church in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Ed loved to witness to other people about the Lord and he was known as a encourager. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and boating. Ed was a member of the Westmore Church of God.Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Bev Scoggins of Benton, his daughter, Maegan Ballew and her husband Bill also of Benton, his son, Ed Scoggins Jr. of Cleveland, his granddaughters, Hailey and Aubrey Ballew, his sister, Rita Horton and her husband Dr. Gene Horton of Pageland, South Carolina, his brothers, Jim Scoggins and his wife Jeannie of Gastonia, North Carolina, David Scoggins and his wife Mandy of Kings Mountain, North Carolina and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 1:00 P. M. at the Westmore Church of God with Pastor Kelvin Page, Bob Lubell and Jim Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A. M. until the service time at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Westmore Church of God. The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
