Ellen Sue Ratcliff

Ellen Mitchell Ratcliff, born April 13, 1934 fell asleep on this earth and awoke in her heavenly home on September 15, 2019. She loved her Lord and Savior and was a very loving Mother and Nana. She enjoyed quilting and coloring and picking the guitar and mandolin and playing piano and singing. She is preceded in death by parents, George and Viola Mitchell; an infant son, Douglas Carroll Ratcliff,; brothers- Wesley Mitchell, Carroll Mitchell, and James Mitchell; sisters- Maggie Cline, Ann Cox, Grace Green Wilcox, and Ada May Wishon. She is survived by her daughters – Jan Wilson (Wayne) Cleveland, TN; June Ross (Lonnie) Mountain Grove, Missouri; son, Gary Ratcliff (Teresa) of Old Fort, TN. 5 Grandchildren: Melanie James (Daniel), Mindy Proffitt (Megan), Stephanie Morgan (Chris), Crystal Mackie (Mike), and Amanda Granier (Oren). 10 Great Grandchildren: Ellie, Wyatt, Doc and Sawyer James, Savannah, Sierra and Sawyer Granier, Charlotte and Eli Mackie; and Mason Morgan; Sister and best friend, Ruby Wilcox of Reliance, TN, loving caregivers April Swilling and Kathy Rhea. Also several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life will be conducted Wednesday, September 18th at 2pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Grandson, Daniel James, Reverend Larry Chastain and Reverend Blaine Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Ball Play Baptist Church Cemetery in Old Fort, Tennessee with Mike Wilcoxon, Bobby Wilcoxon, Larry Headrick, Kenny Green, James Green, and Billy Dixon will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17th from 5 to 9pm. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements. The family extends grateful appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga/Cleveland nurses, staff and CNAs for the loving care and assistance they provided.
