Frankie Juanita Colston Carter Ownby, 96, of Cleveland, and formerly of Crossnore, NC and Miami, FL, passed away April 13 at Life Care Center of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward L. (Eddie) Carter; her second husband, Orvil L. Ownby; stepson, Jack Ownby; sisters, Audrey Butler and Virginia (Tidy) O’Rear; son-in-law, Billy Joe (Bill) Brooks.She is survived by her children, Lynda (Carter) Brooks, Calhoun, GA; Edward L. (Larry) Carter II (Linda Gail), Wildwood, FL; Charles D. Carter (Nancy), Calhoun, GA; Richard N. (Rick) Ownby (Vickie), Georgetown, TN; stepdaughter, Joyce (Ownby) McCallie (Don Kissel), Flintstone, GA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was retired from Southern Bell (BellSouth/AT&T) with 31 years of service. For many years she actively served in mission work with her second husband, Orvil, as members of Constructors for Christ, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, and traveled to Kyiv, Ukraine to build a church in 1997. She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church, Cleveland, and a former member of First Baptist Church Crossnore, NC, and West Miami Church of God, Miami, FL.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 3 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Alan Lovelace and Reverend Joe Brooks officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Constructors for Christ, c/o Ray Dilbeck 1114 Cavender Dr. S. W. Dalton, Georgia 30720. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 P. M. Tuesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
