George "Geebo" Gurley
October 16, 1940 - November 14, 2019
George "Geebo" Gurley, age 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday evening in a Chattanooga hospital. Geebo, as he was affectionately called, was born in Dalton, Georgia and he was the son of the late Lillian Johnson Gurley and Joe Gurley. His wife, Wilma Gurley, his sister, Joann Headrick and his brother, Rayford Gurley also preceded him in death. Geebo worked most of his life with Carpet Manufacturers. He retired from Diamond Carpet in Chatsworth, Georgia. What he really enjoyed doing was coaching baseball. He served as coach for 12 years for numerous teams playing at Industrial Park. Geebo was a U. S. Army Veteran and he was a Christian. Survivors include his son, Joseph Gurley and his wife Angie of Cleveland, his grandchildren, Taylor Gurley, Jordyn Gurley, Matthew Gurley, Katelyn Gurley, Jessica Gurley, Curstan Gurley and Erin Gurley his 7 great grandchildren, his 4 step grandchildren, his 7 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at a later time in the Fort Hill Veteran Section. Military honors will be given.
