George H. Smith, 72, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 in a local health care facility. George was born March 6, 1950 in Cleveland and he was the son of the late Wanda June Ledford Smith and Dana Ray Smith. His daughter, Lisa Smith and sister, Teresa Ezell also preceded him in death. In his younger years he loved hunting with hounds and was an A.K.C. Beagle Field Trail Judge. He also loved to trap. He also worked for A. D. Knauff Horse Sale in Apison, Tennessee for five years as a horse trader. He also worked in trucking for 20 years before early retirement. George was a member of the Union Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include his son, Blue Smith of Rossville, Georgia, daughter, Crissy Holden (Joe), Sylva, North Carolina, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandkids and several nieces, nephews and friends.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 3 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Cody Flowers sharing. Interment will follow in the Fort Hill Cemetery with Kenneth Flowers, Cody Flowers, Brandon Palmer, Kim Randolph, Christian Holden and Nolan Smith serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 P. M. Tuesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
