Hassie (Faye) Fields Obrien age74 a resident at the Courtyard of DeerRidge, Dayton Tn., passed away at Thursday June 4, 2020 in a Chattanooga hospital. She left this world to be with her Lord and savior and the many family and friends that when on before her.She was born June 20, 1945. She was the youngest of 7 children born to her father the late Mathew Black and her mother the late Lola Black of Luttrell TN. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years Rev. William “Kokomo” Fields, her son Michael Fields, her siblings Samuel Black, Sadie Black, Ruby Black, Pearlie Josephine Gibson, William Black, Edith Black and her grandson Joseph Richardson.She was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School in 1963 where she was a cheerleader and was a member or the School Choir. After graduating she married William Fields and lived in Cleveland for many years where they shared their love for Christ. They built a ministry of singing and preaching God’s word. Being a very talented singer she was asked to sing Woman at the Well everywhere she went. She was a member of Fairview Mountain Baptist Church in Polk County where she taught Bible School and Sunday School. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross at the 4-H Camp in Greasy Creek. She retired from Hardwick Clothes with nearly 30 years of service. She also worked at Golden Gallon, ABC Convenient Stores and K-Mart. Her hobbies include writing poetry, gardening, reading novels, crossword puzzles and dance. She befriended all she came to know. Her feisty spirit and charismatic nature will be missed.Survivors include her daughters Angelia Martin and her husband Robert, Aleshia Shartrand and her husband Thomas, Jona Shaver and her husband Allin, her grandchildren Anthony Duggan, Laurel Brock, Kenneth Nance, Siria Spicer, C.T. Nance, Brittanee Fields, Drake Fields, John Shaver and one great grandson Draven Fields along with many nieces and nephews.A Remembrance of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 o’clock Monday at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel with Rev. Eddie Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 11am until 1pm at the funeral home.We encourage visitors and family to practice social distancing while at the funeral home.
