Hazel Scoggins Taylor, age 96, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of McDonald, Tennessee, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 12, 2021. She lived with her daughter and granddaughter who were her caregivers. Mrs. Taylor was born in McDonald and she was the daughter of the late Nannie Ramsey Scoggins and Everett Scoggins. Her husband, Perry Taylor, her grandson, Wes Harden, her siblings and their spouses, Ida Scoggins, Maggie and Wiley Gaston, Oma Jean Tinsley, Mary Lee and Lester Mathews, Verlia Kate and W. C. "Menner" Mathews, Clyde and Edith Scoggins, Martha and Joe Jones, Nellie and Junior Neeley, Katherine and James Clingan, Margaret and Tom Holder, Frances and Frank Brady also preceded her in death. Mrs. Taylor was married to Perry Taylor who was a W. W. II Veteran, injured in Italy. Because of her husband's service she was named a Gold Star Wife. She was the oldest member of the Bancroft Church of God where she served as Sunday School Secretary for 50 years. She loved to work in the church! Mrs. Taylor started the Children's Church at Bancroft and made fried pies, cakes and butter rolls to raise money for different projects. She loved to cook and would feed and give food away to anyone in need. Mrs. Taylor was a true Christian!Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Hawkins, her granddaughter, Paula Ledford, her brother in law, James "Bud" Tinsley and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Reverend Ron Branham and Reverend Jeff Kesley officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family would like to say thank you for all the prayers and for Caris Home Health and Hospice for their care of Mrs. Taylor. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P. M.
