Decorated World War 2 Army Veteran Hershel Thomas Hicks passed away May 10, 2022 just shy of his 99th birthday. Born in Indiana May 15th 1923, he was one of eight children. His wife of over seventy years, Mildred Green Hicks who passed away from a lengthy battle with cancer in 2018. Mr. Hicks worked from his youth with the CCC as well as Bradley County Road department, Lonas Construction and Bradley County Health Department as well as Magic Chef. Hershel and Mildred had three children: Larry Hicks (Shannon), Sandra Hughes (Bill), Jonny Hicks (Cindy), 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Monday at 1 o’clock at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel. The interment with Military Honors will follow at Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 11 until 1pm at the funeral home.
