Isham “Pop” Douglas, 91, resident of Dalton, GA went to his heavenly home on Thursday morning, June 20, 2019. He was born in Little Elk, TN, October 19, 1927 to the late William Albert “Bill” Douglas and Laura Belle Lay Douglas. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and mother of his children, Margaret Douglas. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carrie Douglas Blankenship, Hattie Mae Wheat, R.L. Douglas, and Noah Douglas. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed gardening, particularly flowering plants and most especially tomatoes. He was a faithful family man and was especially proud of his grandkids and great grandkids. Above all, he was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, and avid Bible student and teacher. He is survived by his wife, Edna Abernathy Douglas, Dalton; four sons and spouses, Larry and Shirley Douglas, Cohutta, GA, Mike and Debbie Douglas, Dalton, GA, Tim and Audrey Douglas, Resaca, GA, and Darrin and Kathi Douglas, Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Greg Tyre, Sara Douglas, Brooke Douglas and David Allen, Billy and Amanda Douglas, Tim and Kristen Douglas, Tara and Chris Reich, Caleb Douglas, Cameron Douglas, Collin Douglas, Carter Douglas, and Cole Douglas; great grandchildren, Colton Tyre, Maggie Martin, Faith Cox, Lane Cox, Ellie Allen, Elise Douglas, Nora Douglas, and Lily Douglas, Claire Douglas, Vivian Douglas, and Luke Douglas. Nieces and nephews also survive. A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Crosspointe Christian Centre in Dalton, GA with Pastor Stan Lester officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with grandchildren serving as pallbearers and great grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A. M. until the service time at 2:00 at the Crosspointe Christian Centre in Dalton, Georgia.
