Bishop J. Wayne Moore, age 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 17, 2019 at the family residence. He was born in McDonald, Tennessee, August 29, 1941 to the late Mamie Estelle Mantooth Moore and James Anderson Moore. His sister, Wanda McClure and his brother, Freddie Moore also preceded him in death.He married his childhood sweetheart, Rebecca (Brewer) Moore, January 18, 1963. Their 56 years of marriage would lead to the couples three children, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.Wayne was a man with a servant's heart and spent his life serving others. After accepting the call to ministry, Wayne became an Ordained Bishop, evangelizing and pastoring churches in Tennessee and North Carolina, including Cotton Port Road Church of God, Grasshopper Church of God, New Hope Church of God, Big Springs Church of God, Hayesville Church of God, Mt. View Church of God, and Sylvia Church of God. He led the building of the churches in Canton, NC and Grasshopper, TN.After returning home to Cleveland, he continued a life of service. Wayne was instrumental in helping launch the Volunteer Community Service division of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, where he would be affectionately known as "CS 1". He also served as court officer in the General Sessions court of Bradley County under Judge C. Van Deacon, where he readily helped everyone he could.Wayne was also elected and served two terms on the Bradley County Commission representing the 5th District. He was proud to represent his friends and neighbors and saw many improvements to the district during his tenure.Survivors left to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Rebecca Brewer - Moore; Three children, Angela Sue Pursley (Alan), Stephen Wayne Moore (Alise), and J. Daniel Moore (Donette); Grandchildren, Derek Wayne Pursley (Lydia), Ryan Matthew Waters (Cassie), Brandon Wayne Moore (Beth), Samuel James Moore, and Luke Daniel Moore; Great Grandchildren, Brandon Wayne Moore, Jr., Coy James Logan, Kyler Elijah Moore, Triston Jacobie Gadeken, Julian Atticus Cartwright, Arlo Jordan Lambert, Jack Brannen Pursley; Brother, Garry D. Moore (Geneva); Sisters, Shirley Brewer (Tom), Darlene Baugh (D.D.), Gwinith Lyles, Judy Moore, Janet Moore-Keys, a host of nieces and nephews, and his beloved Yorkie, Coco.The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 1:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Bishop J. Daniel Moore and Derek Wayne Pursley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Derek Pursley, Brandon Moore, Samuel Moore, Luke Moore, Alan Keckritz and Ryan Waters serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
