James David Cross, age 56, a residence of Georgetown, TN left this life to be with his Lord and Savior on October 20, 2020 after a short and sudden illness. He was the son of the late Louise Forgey Cross and Ronald R. Cross of Ringgold, GA. He graduated from Ringgold High School in 1983 where he met the love of his life, Karen Swafford, whom he married right after graduation. After high school he worked for six years as a heavy equipment operator for Raines Brother Construction Company. In 1991 along with his father he opened and managed Radio City a car radio repair shop in Hixson, TN. There he developed an aptitude for diagnosing electronics in automobiles which eventually led to a business in auto electronic repairs. After his calling into the ministry in 1996 David and Karen joyfully served the Lord Jesus Christ together in the gospel ministry for the next 24 years as pastor and wife. He served as pastor at Townsend Baptist church in Townsend, GA, and Gum Springs Baptist Church in Georgetown for 15 years. At the time of his passing he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Charleston, TN and operated Electronic Solutions and Auto Repair in Georgetown, TN. His favorite song was "Just over in the Glory Land." He doted on his grandchildren and used every opportunity to teach them valuable lessons of life. He was beaming with joy over recently leading his granddaughter to accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. He once served as chaplain for the Cleveland Police Department and was currently serving on the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, Board of Directors and the Baptismal Committee. He held a B.S. degree in Theology. Rev. Cross is survived by his wife, Karen, his daughter Alycia Farrell (Brandon); two grandchildren Kennadee and Lincoln Farrell; two brothers, Tommy Cross (Kim) of Ringgold and Clay Cross (Rene'e) of Ringgold; nieces and nephews.
