James "Jim" E. Swafford, age 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his home. Jim was the son of the late Evelyn Wells Swafford and Ellis Lewis Swafford. His good friend, Bill Driggers also preceded him in death. Jim was retired from Cleveland Express Inc. with 40 years of service in the office. Along with his wife Frances, they were faithful employees of Grissom Funeral Home and later Jim Rush Funeral Homes. He enjoyed the outdoors including working in his yard, fishing, gardening, being on the river and the mountains. Jim was a very active member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, where he served as Elder, Treasurer for 19 years and Sunday School Superintendent for 13 years. He was a 1956 graduate of Bradley Central High SchoolSurvivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Frances Murray Swafford of Cleveland, his son, Brian Swafford and his wife Patty, his grandchildren, Cody and Courtney Swafford, his longtime friend, Wanda Driggers and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 3:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Jennifer Newell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family would like to thank his niece Brenda Murray Morris and her husband Jim for helping the family during his illness. Also a thank you to Amedysis Hospice and Arkridge Homecare for their care during this time. The family request in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 694, Cleveland, Tennessee 37364-0694. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P. M. Saturday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
