Janet Kay Gates Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Janet Kay Gates 64 a resident of Cleveland passed away Monday September 6, 2021 in a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Edith Gates and was also preceded in death by her brother Everett Gates and sisters Freida Wilson and Millie Gamble and two nephews Joe and Tony Gates. Janet was retired from Whirlpool with over 44 years of service. She was known as a great cook and gardener and the “other mother to her brothers”. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her brothers; Charles “Pete” Gates, Lawrence Gates (Barbara), George Gates (Diane), Gene Gates (Dot), Benny Gates (Annalee), and Maurice Gates, brother in law Taylor “Mac” Gamble, adopted brother and Pastor Homer Roberts, special nieces Andrea Wilson, Morgan Gates and Jennifer Bravo, including many more special nieces and nephews, special cousins and sidekicks Barbara Greer and Betty Emerson, and her special friend Robert McClure. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Thursday at 3:30pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Pastor Homer Roberts officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 until 3:30 at the funeral home.
