Jerry Phillips, 81, passed away at his residence on Monday May 23, 2022 the place he had called home most of his life. He entered his eternal home to live with his Lord & Savior throughout eternity. He was a beautiful special man with a gracious heart and spirit. A spirit that only knew love and gave love freely. He was born August 22, 1940 to Luther & Frankie (Jordan) Phillips. He loved his family with his complete heart unconditionally. He was the Number 1 Fan of the Tennessee Volunteers football, basketball, and softball. It was Big Orange all the way! Every game day you would find him listening or watching and sometimes both. He was loyal to his 'team' just like he was loyal to his family and friends. He would cheer, shout, and do all the 'side chair' coaching and get upset over a 'bad call'. He loved the Bradley Bears, Atlanta Braves, playing the Wii tennis, bowling, and golfing. In every game he held the highest score by swinging the racket from left to right never missing the ball. He loved his "mustangs". He was amazing! When his eyes were better he loved to read all kinds of books and newspapers. He enjoyed reading about vitamins and things that were good and or bad for you. He believed in 'natural' medicines whenever possible and always encouraged the ones he loved to take care of themselves. He Loved BIG and he was loved BIG by his family. He enjoyed spending time with all his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and, 'greats'. He accepted his 'lot' in life with integrity, dignity, grace, and courage. He never complained. He never wanted pity. He was strong, content, and loved Jesus with all his heart!Preceding him to eternity were his parents Luther and Frankie Phillips, and his brothers, Chuck Bolin, David, Bobby, Leon, and Eddie Phillips; brother and sisters-in-law Glenn Britt, Ruth Phillips, and Debbie Phillips.Left behind for now his oldest surviving brother Thomas (Skeet) Phillips, sisters Linda Phillips Rakestraw (Steve), Carol Phillips Britt, and Chris Phillips Still (Gerald), Sisters - in - law, Judy Phillips, and Caroline Phillips. Many nieces, nephews, 'greats' and 'great-greats', cousins, and friends which were many.Everyone that met Jerry made a friend for life! As we always say, "There's no one like our Jerry!"A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Friday at 2pm at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with his sister Chris Still speaking. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jacen Phillips, Colby Still, Steve Rakestraw, Justin Posey, Josh Hill, and Charlie Williams serving as casket bearers.
