Jimmy Leonard Runyon

Jimmy Leonard Runyon, age 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the family residence. Mr. Runyon was the son of the late Rachel Wilcox Runyon and Hiram Fate Runyon. His wife, Gladys Farris Runyon, his sisters, Marie Gray and Mary Wright and his brothers, Fate, Paul, Roy and John Runyon also preceded him in death. Mr. Runyon was retired from Hardwick Clothes with over 30 years of devoted service in the spreading and cutting department. Mr. Runyon enjoyed visiting with people, talking and laughing with them. He was a wonderful grandfather and an avid Tennessee Volunteer Football Fan. Mr. Runyon enjoyed going to church and he was a longtime member of the New Friendship Baptist Church. More recently he was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church.Survivors include his daughter, Sherri Riggs and her husband Tim of Cleveland, his grandson, Bryson Riggs, his special friend, Dale Hodginson all of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 7:00 P. M. from the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Reverend Earl Farris officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. from Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jack Sanders, Josh Sanders, Ben Sanders, Gene Jones, Josh Jones and Cody Whaley serving as casket bearers. The family request that in lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Caris Healthcare and Hospice, 421 Old Riceville Road, Athens, Tennessee 37303. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P. M. on Tuesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
