Jack Wilkinson went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2021 at the age of 89.He was a member of the Peerless Road Church and an ordained Bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy.He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Anne Wilkinson, daughter, Elisa Dawn Kidwell, and brother, Warren Wilkinson.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Galloway Wilkinson; two sons: Richard Wilkinson, Mark Wilkinson and his wife Olivia; grandchildren: Jeremy Kidwell, Natalie Howard and her husband Andrew, and Zane, Ian, Miranda, Ella, Willow Wilkinson, their mother Leigh Montgomery, along with Olivia’s children, Harrison, Kate, India, and great granddaughter Dawn Teresa Howard.He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and was a licensed Professional Engineer in TN, GA, and FL. His civil engineering career spanned 45 years and included being Chief Building Official, Public Works Director, and City Engineer for the City of Chattanooga, Director of Operations for the Chattanooga Public Schools, County Engineer and Director of General Services for Pinellas County FL, Highway Designer for two consulting engineering firms and Principal Partner of Wilkinson and Haynes Engineering and Surveyors in Cleveland and Chattanooga TN.Since retiring he served as part-time Building and Plans Examiner in Kenneth City FL and more recently as a substitute teacher for Cleveland City and Bradley County schools and at The Goal Academy. While living in FL he volunteered in the literacy program teaching children and adults to read.He was very active in the ministry of the Church of God of Prophecy serving for seven years as the first President of Tomlinson College, four years as a High School Math and Science Teacher at Tomlinson Memorial School and two years as the District Coordinator for the Tampa Bay Area Churches, plus serving three years as interim pastor for two local congregations. He also served as Youth Leader, bible study teacher, as well as other positions in the local churches in Akron Ohio, Tampa FL, and Cleveland TN. Using his engineering training and credentials he designed more than 15 building projects for the Church’s international, state, and local offices and churches.A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Tuesday July 13, 2021 at 2pm Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy with Bishop Adam Jones and Bishop Sam Clements officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 at the church. Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
