Johnie Lavena Dalton

Johnie Lavena Dalton, 95, of the Greasy Creek community, went to her heavenly home on December 28, 2020. She was born on March 9, 1925. Johnie was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She had a heart for God and was a true pillar to her family. She enjoyed raising a garden, canning food for her family, special family dinners, needlework, sewing, puzzles, reading her Bible, and had a love for her family beyond compare. Johnie was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Melvin & Mamie Ledford, husband, Garrett Dalton, Sr. & Raymond Wilcox, daughter, MaryAnn Carver, and grandson, Gary Dalton. She is survived by her children, Garrett Dalton, Jr., Carroll (& Marilyn) Dalton, Theresa (& Roger) Norwood, Janice (& Carl) Ledford, Terry (& Jeannette) Dalton, Robert (& Debbie) Dalton, sister, Billie Jean Howard, special friend, Maxine Franklin, and JoAnn Jamerson, caregiver and granddaughter. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends. Due to Covid restrictions, the family is not able to meet with friends as we would like. To honor her memory, memorial donations may be made to Greasy Creek Baptist Church, 426 Greasy Creek Rd., Reliance, TN 37369. The Remembrance of Life graveside service will be held private for the family at Archville Baptist Church in the Greasy Creek community with Rev. Johnny Moore officiating.
