Joshua Darnell Baggett, age 27, a resident of Grantville, Georgia and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Friday morning in an Atlanta, Georgia Hospital. Josh was born in Loma Linda, California and he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorothy Christine Jarrard and Donald Martin and his paternal grandfather, Darnell Baggett. Josh played Division 1 Football for the University of New Mexico Lobo's where he played Offensive Guard. He worked in Law Enforcement for the past 6 years serving on the Coweta County, Georgia Sheriffs Department and at the time of his passing, he worked for the Clayton County, Georgia Police Department. Josh was known for his stature and his big heart which made him very effective in Public Service. Because of his Football experience and knowledge, he loved passing it on to his Youth Football Team, the Sharpsburg, Georgia Stallions which he was privileged to be Head Coach. Josh was a member of the Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.Survivors include his mother and father, Lisa Martin Baggett and Scott Baggett of Gallatin, Tennessee, his sister, Jessica McBride and her husband Rick of Chelsea, Alabama, his brother, Jacob Baggett of Gallatin, Tennessee, his nephew, Rhett Tyde McBride of Chelsea, Alabama, his Paternal Grandmother, Nancy Baggett of Chattanooga, his fiance' and love of his life who also works in Public Service as a Firefighter in Atlanta, Leila Simpson of Grantville, Georgia, his fiancé's parents, Catherine and Radney Simpson of Marietta, Georgia, his fiancé's sister, Dawn Simpson and several aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of friends and his fellow brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement also survive.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 1:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Pastor Jeff Baggett and Chaplain Roosevelt Johns officiating. Interment will follow in the Benton Memorial Gardens with Jake Hearn, Tyler Dean, Shedric "Slappy" Carthern, Rick McBride, Jacob Baggett and Alex Mitchell serving as casket bearers.
