Rev. Lester Gene Shubert a resident of the Old Fort Community, went home to be with the Lord Saturday August 8, 2020 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was the son of the late Robert Lindsey and Mary Lee Shubert and was also preceded in death by his wife Beulah Faye Shubert, his brothers and sisters Maxine, Donald Ray, Donna Fay, Charles, Bobby Joe and Ronnie Shubert. Rev. Shubert was a member of Echoes of Mercy Baptist Church. He previously pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church and served as assistant pastor of Covenant Baptist Church for several years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Siskin Steel with over 25 years of service. He is survived by his son Jesse Shubert of Old Fort, his daughter and son in law Virginia “Gennie” Prince and Jackie, grandchildren Sarah and Anthony Bales, Matthew and Patrick Triplett, Josh and Ashlee Shubert, Tasha Beaty, Allison, Desirae and Andrew Prince and 11 great grandchildren, his sisters and in laws, Edna Davis of Kingston, Ellene Lewallen, May Jane and Tony Hernandez, Barbara Ann and Homer Roberts, Connie and James Dobbs all of Cleveland, Vonell and Martha Lewallen of Spring City, Terisa Smallen and husband Charlie Triplett of Cleveland and Faye Lewallen of Old Fort. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday at Echoes of Mercy Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel White and Rev. Homer Roberts officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Matthew and Patrick Triplett, Andrew Prince, Anthony Bales, Danny and Ricky Lewallen will serve as casket bearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8pm at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel and from 1 until 2pm at the church Wednesday.
