Margaret "Gerry" Woody

January 28, 1925 - April 13, 2022

Margaret "Gerry" Woody, 97, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in a local health care facility. Miss Woody was born in Benton, Tennessee and she was the daughter of the late Mamie Allen Woody and Bob Woody. Her brothers, Percy, Louis, Duke and Wayne L. Woody also preceded her in death. Miss Woody was a long time educator in Alvin, Texas with over 22 years of service. She also worked for Hosiery Mill in Concord, North Carolina and she also did defense work at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She received her Bachelors Degree from Carson-Newman College and her Masters Degree from Carver School of Missions and Social Work. Miss Woody was appointed by the Baptist Home Mission Board (now N.A.M.B) to work in language Missions (Spanish Speaking). She was with the board for 8 years. Miss Woody was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church. Survivors include her nieces, Susan Woody Oswald, Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Carol Woody Johnson, Mill Valley, California, Mia Woody, Denver, Colorado, special cousin, Judy Davis, Cleveland and a host of friends including Janice Kunitsugu. The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service will be conducted on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11 A. M. at the Brock Cemetery in Polk County with Reverend Paul Davis officiating. Honorary casket bearers will be the Ladies from the Joy Givers Class and the Sunshine Class at Westwood Baptist Church. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Westwood Baptist Church, 4001 Georgetown Road N. W. Cleveland, Tennessee 37312.
