Mildred Evelyn Ramsey, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday in a local health care facility. Mildred was born in Cleveland and she was the daughter of the late Mary Ruth Scarbrough Maples and Guy Thomas Maples. Her brother, Gary Thomas Maples also preceded her in death. Mildred was a 1963 graduate of Bradley Central High School where she was in the top 8 of her class. She was a member of the National Honor Society for 2 years and she received awards in Typing and Book keeping. She was employed with Hardwick Clothes for 7 years and she also worked for Revco Drug Store, working as a waitress at the luncheon counter. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens and she was a great cook! Mildred was a big supporter of the Gideon's and she was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Denise Chambers of Cleveland, Judith Ann "Judy" Lynn (James), Benton, grandchildren, Michael James Morrow, James William Francis Jr., LaTeasha Nicole Chambers, Jessica Ann Lynn, special friends and caregivers, Josephine Frazier, Thelma Scoggins, Marilyn Laub, Cynthia Shaffer, Cheryl Rymer, several nieces and nephews.The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 4 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Pastor Guinn Greene and Pastor Steve Huff officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted on Saturday at 11 A. M. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Jim Laub, Ron Shaffer, Sam Rymer. John Paul Johnson, Brandon Cook and Robert Rymer serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 P. M. Friday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
