Myra Stacey Vaughan, 82, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at her home while surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev and Mrs. E T Stacey. Myra was a Child of God, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, pastor’s wife, a woman of extraordinary character and worth. She was amazing. As tiny as she was, she would face off with a full-grown grizzly if one of her loved ones were in danger; she was always fierce as a lion yet gentle as a lamb. Myra was a peacemaker – always trying to work toward and bring about restoration. It was her gift and her heartbreak. One of her greatest attributes though was her ability to reach heaven’s portals. When she prayed for you, the prayer stuck. Literally. She would cry late into the night and early in the morning – never giving up, always interceding. This woman (and her husband) were the greatest prayer warriors, moving mountains on behalf of others. Myra was a faithful member of the Church of God International, specifically Victory Drive Church of God, Cleveland TN where her husband remains the pastor. She and her husband, W. C. Vaughan, ministered for over 59 years, pastoring 13 churches in 7 states. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, bird watching, photography and making crafts but her greatest thrill was interceding for others. Survivors include her husband, W. C. Vaughan; her children: Benson (Cathy) Vaughan; Michael (Lisa) Vaughan; Cheryl (Brian) Gillenwater; Chris (Kristi) Vaughan; grandchildren: Stephanie (Paul); Stacey (Charles); Amanda; Tiffany; Zachary; Hobie; Addison; Kaitlyn; Connor; Ryan; great-grans: Jacqueline; Ethan; Jadon; AdriElle; Nathan; 2 sisters: Patricia Wilson, Cleveland, TN; Yevonne Gentry, Phoenix, AZ; 2 brothers: John Stacey, Phoenix, AZ; Gary Stacey, Nashville, TN, many nieces, nephews and close friends, including: Tammy Rockwell, Abigail Crisp, both of Cleveland, TN; Willie and Lupe Santana, Georgia; Nita Pitman, Pensacola, FL. The family wants to acknowledge the love and care given by Life Care Rehab Services of Cleveland, TN and Hospice of Chattanooga during her illness over the past several months. A Celebration of the Life of Myra Stacey Vaughan will be held on Thursday, August 10, 12:00 p.m. at North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel with the Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Tax deductible memorials may be made to the Rev. E. T. and Zelphia Stacey Scholarship (Stacey Scholarship #710-0058-010), %Church of God World Missions, P. O. Box 8016, Cleveland, TN 37320-8016.
