Nancy A. Walent

Nancy A. Walent (Whitehouse/Griffith), 84, of Cleveland, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, April 22, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Cleveland, Tennessee. Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as one of six children, and graduated in 1955 from Taylor Allderdice High School in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood near Swissvale, Pennsylvania. Nancy went on to become a stewardess for Continental Airlines where she served passengers on DC-4 aircraft during the Golden Age of aviation. Nancy was active in her local church, St. Joseph’s in Mantua, Ohio, for many years, helping with Sunday night rollerskating, bingo, and the church’s summer festival, the Ox Roast Fair. She worked for the Eaton Corporation in both Mantua and Aurora, Ohio, and retired in 1992. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1995, she amazed doctors with her strength and determination that kept her walking until the age of 82.She is survived by her three children, Donna K. Swanda (Garth) of Clover, South Carolina, Denise A. Moore of Clover, South Carolina, and Kimberly L. Arsenault (David) of Cleveland, Tennessee, brother, John Whitehouse (Sandy) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and sister, Marian Barna (Robert) of Tucson, Arizona, 7 grandchildren, Dustin Jakab (Danika), Brenden Swanda, Travis Swanda (Ashley), Ryan Jakab (Sara), Matthew Jakab (Lucy), Nicholas Jakab (Taylor), Chloe Arsenault, and 12 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Walent, her parents, Edward and Helen (Rach) Whitehouse, her brothers Franklin Delano Whitehouse and Edward Benjamin Whitehouse, and her sister, Dorothy E. Gray (Whitehouse).A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy A. Walent will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 3 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Chapel, 2600 North Ocoee Street NW, Cleveland TN 37312. Friends and family will be received from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 3:00 p.m.For those unable to attend, the Celebration of Life Service may be live streamed.
